Use separate hampers for darks, colors, and whites, and each day throw your dirty laundry into the corresponding hamper. There are also divided single hampers you can buy that serve the same purpose. This way when laundry day comes, the clothes are already pre-sorted by color.
Hang up a key rack near the dryer for single socks. It’s inevitable when doing laundry that at some point you will come across a lone sock that has lost its partner. Hang these socks up, so that when another lone sock turns up later, you can find its match.
Use a pillow case to hold folded sheet sets. First, fold all the sheets of a sheet set – the fitted sheet, top sheet, and all pillowcases except for one. Then insert the folded sheets into this pillow case, creating a sack that contains the entire set. This puts an end to searching for stray pillow cases, and also makes your sheet sets easier to store.
