Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth with These Healthy Dessert Options

Most of us consider dessert to be an indulgence, but there are some dessert choices that don’t have to sabotage a healthy lifestyle. Here are some of them:

  • Chocolate-dipped fruit – Dipping fruits, such as pineapple, strawberries, and bananas, in chocolate can be a great dessert option for anyone. Those trying to be healthy should make sure to use a limited amount of chocolate on the fruit and can opt for dark chocolate instead of milk or white chocolate. That’s because dark chocolate is known to be a good source of antioxidants and may help lower blood pressure.
  • Peanut butter – Mixing peanut butter with bananas and high-protein granola isn’t just a satisfying dessert option, it’ll also keep you full longer because of all the protein. Peanut butter on its own is a great source of protein, so for an alternative dessert, try putting peanut butter on a piece of whole-wheat toast with a smear of honey or jam on it for added flavor.
  • Frozen grapes – For those who aren’t fans of chocolate or peanut butter, frozen grapes might be an appealing option. Since grapes are sweet and juicy, freezing them makes them taste like mini fruit popsicles. To freeze grapes, remove them from the stem, place them in a plastic bag, and put them in the freezer. They should be frozen in about 4 to 5 hours.
  • Fruit ice pops – If you like the idea of having frozen fruits for dessert, consider making your own fruit ice pops. In order to do so, place fruits such as kiwi blueberries, and peaches into an ice-pop mold. Then, fill the molds with juice, coconut water, or any other beverage you like, and place them in the freezer. Once in the freezer, the ice pops should be ready in about 6 hours.

Frozen grapes or fruit ice pops would both fit seamlessly in the spacious refrigerator/freezers found in the PepperTree apartments near The Villages, FL. If you’d like to learn more about our community or if you’re interested in becoming a resident, contact us today.
