Often times, when a filmmaker attempts to make a sequel to a movie, they usually fall short of the original. However, in certain cases the sequels actually turn out to be much better than the originals. Here is a list of movie sequels that are better than the original:

• The Godfather Part ll – Although The Godfather was an amazing movie that won an Oscar for Best Picture, The Godfather Part II which also won for Best Picture, was even better. Following both the stories of Michael Corleone’s leadership of the Corleone crime family, and the backstory of Vito Corleone and how he founded the crime family, this sequel is widely considered one of the best of all time.

• The Dark Knight – The second movie in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, this phenomenal sequel features one of the greatest villain performances in movie history, Heath Ledger’s Joker. The incredible acting and storyline of this film make it one of the best sequels ever.

• Terminator 2: Judgement Day – Turning Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character for the bad guy to the good guy makes this sequel a lot more fun to watch. That and the fact that the special effects jump leaps and bounds from its predecessor.
